About RFMS Help Files:
The Help Files for all of the RFMS Core program are in a web help format, which can be viewed by all operating systems. While web help does not require internet access, an internet browser such as MS Edge, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc., is required for viewing the help files.
Note: Internet access is required to view video tutorials and certain links found in some help file pages.
Accessing RFMS Help Files (two methods):
- F1: While in any area of RFMS, press the F1 key on your keyboard to open Help File content specific to the area of RFMS you are currently in. For instance, if you have the Print Invoice window open, pressing F1 will open the Help File content explaining the options available in the Print Invoice window.
-
Menu Bar (Help > Contents): While in any module click Help > Contents in the menu bar at the top of the window. Please note, this method will NOT take you to a specific topic. Instead the window will open to the general help contents for RFMS. You can then search through the contents using the side navigation menu.
Note: Clicking Help > About *module name* from the top menu bar will open the System Information Summary showing a summary of the RFMS software for that company and user.
Help Files Not Opening - or - Opening in Wrong Browser Window:
When accessing Help Files the content window will open in a web browser window. RFMS is programmed to recognize and open Help Files in the user's default web browser. However, we have found the window may attempt to open in Internet Explorer, or another non-default browser due to a setting in the user's Windows Registry. Historically, this registry setting would automatically update when a user changes their default web browser in Windows, but the setting may need to be manually updated.
If Help Files are opening in the wrong web browser, have your local qualified technician review the following registry setting and change it manually to the correct browser path, as determined by your technician.
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\open\command
Please note, due to the nature of the Windows Registry, RFMS recommends a qualified IT technician handle this process. RFMS, Inc. is not liable for any damages, direct or indirect, that result from the execution of changes made to the Windows Registry.
Unable to View Help Files Using Google Chrome:
If above setting for htmlfile registry setting is correct, yet you are still unable to view Help Files using Google Chrome, have your local qualified technician check the following Windows Registry setting for .htm (Note: make sure to select .htm NOT .html ). If the value in the (Default) field is "ChromeHTML”, change it to “htmlfile”
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.htm
Please note, due to the nature of the Windows Registry, RFMS recommends a qualified IT technician handle this process. RFMS, Inc. is not liable for any damages, direct or indirect, that result from the execution of changes made to the Windows Registry.
