End of Year Tax Documents Not Lining Up

If printed W-2, 1099, T4, or T5018 forms are not aligning correctly with pre-printed government forms, the issue is usually caused by PDF scaling settings.

Cause

Most PDF readers default to Shrink or Fit to Page, which slightly adjusts the document size when printing.

Resolution

1. Open the saved PDF in your preferred PDF viewer.
2. In the Print dialog, locate the Page Sizing & Handling or Scale option.
3. Select Actual Size instead of Fit or Shrink to Fit.
4. Print a test page to confirm alignment.
5. Once aligned, continue printing the full batch.
