These options allow selecting the requirement levels for each of these marketing fields. The choices are:
Not Required
New Orders Only-this includes new quotes created also.
Always required-Selecting this means when existing orders are opened the information must be entered if it was not there initially. This must be selected for existing quotes without information in the required fields to cause an alert when imported to order entry.

If this field is used for marketing analysis, it is best to require it to be entered on customer orders.
If mail only is required, enter it while entering the customer information on the order is quicker than opening the additional info tab later and adding it.
