How to Create and Manage Check Templates

 

From this screen you can add and manage check templates.

How to Add a New Template

  1. Name the template
  2. Confirm the size of the check portion
  3. Set the printer offset
  4. Select the layout; for example: the selected layout in the above image is for Check-Stub-Stub add new template steps 2.png
  5. Select a field
  6. Set the field size
  7. Set the field position on the check
  8. Select whether or not the selected field prints on the check (If the Amount field is selected there is also the option whether or not to print the currency symbol)
  9. Print a test check at any time
  10. Save the new template

Edit, Copy, or Delete a Template

Action Description
Edit

Double-click a check template from the results list to open it in edit mode. Alternately, select the edit button.png button while viewing a check template to edit it.

Copy

Select a check template from the results list and click the copy button.png button to open a new template in edit mode that starts with the same settings as the selected template.

 Tip: The template name will default to the original template name with "-COPY" at the end of it.

Delete Select the delete button.png button from the toolbar to delete a template. This can be done either in the browse screen or while viewing a template.

Options and Fields

General Options Details
Check Form Size Enter the actual width and height of the check. Paper size is selected in printer options.
Printer Offset Indicate space between edge of page and where check printing begins.
Check Layout Select which position the check should be printed on the page: Top, middle, or bottom.

MICR

Field Size

Set the width and height of the selected field.

Field Position Set the alignment and offset of the selected field. A select field can also be dragged to a location.
Field Content

Toggle the option to include the selected field in the printed check.

 Note: For the Amount filed there is an additional option to toggle the currency symbol on the printed check. 

 Tips:

  • If printing MICR checks please refer to the article MICR Checks for more detailed information
  • If you're new to RFMS please see the article Things You Will Need for information about the best check stock to use.
  • The option to view and edit check templates will not be available if you are accessing RFMS NEXT via a mobile phone even if your group permissions allow you access to that screen.
