View Available Inventory on Lines in Order Entry

This button allows accessing inventory amounts from Order Entry without accessing the Inventory module.

When creating an Order Line, the   button will display if

  • pulled from Products
  • has an Item Number, Roll/Item Name and Description

This feature can be used for materials that will be allocated at the time it is pulled or picked. So reserving a specific inventory record is not appropriate but knowing inventory availability is crucial in processing the order.

For example, this could be used for appliances. If we have 5 refrigerators but are not going to pick the exact one with a specific serial number until the order is ready to ship, we need to make an allowance for this order so we do not oversell the inventory.

The system will look at every order with matching inventory specifications in a NONE or Soft Reserve status to show the allowances necessary for current sales in the system that have not been reserved.

Another good example is Pad-Underlayment. These types of materials are kept on hand and technically will be allocated a shipment of material is ordered weekly or in batch shipments. Since the material currently on hand will be used to fill orders in backlog you will most likely not want to reserve this material for one job because it may have to be unreserved and used on another job. This will allow you to see that status of the available inventory, all the jobs in process that will need to be filled and the total available for the sale is the balance at that moment.

Available Inventory: This is the total of Available for matching Inventory. (Match is on Product Code, Roll/Item Number, Roll/Item Name and Description)

Soft Reserves: This is for Soft Reserves on Available Inventory

Allocated to Orders: This is the amount on all matching Order Lines in a "None" status, not including the Order Line currently being edited. (Match is on Product Code, Roll/Item Number, Roll/Item Name and Description.)

Total Available for Sale = Available Inventory - Soft Reserves - Allocated to Orders.
