This article focuses on the Edit and Delete functions in the Quotes screen used to alter a Quote record.
Quotes can be updated at any time before they are exported to an order. Information related to the customer, cost, and contact can be edited directly within the quote screen.
Edit a Quote
Steps:
- Highlight the quote in the Quotes Browse screen.
- Click the Edit button,
in the toolbar.
- The Quote screen opens.
- Make necessary updates to any editable sections:
- Header
- Costs
- Contact/Job Details
- Location/Building Info
- Commission
- Click Save to record changes.
Note:
- If a quote has been exported to an order, editing restrictions apply.
- Changing the customer may reset tax or price list data.
- The Export Date prompt appears when modifying previously exported quotes.
Delete a Quote
Steps:
- Highlight the quote to delete.
- Click Delete,
in the toolbar.
- Confirm deletion when prompted.
Note:
- Quotes cannot be deleted if they are related to other quotes (the primary must remain).
- Quotes that have been exported cannot be deleted.
- Deleting a quote is permanent — the record cannot be recovered once confirmed.
- If needed, users can copy the quote before deleting to preserve a reference version.
Tip: To manage related versions instead of deleting, see Copy, Relate, or Manage Quote Versions

- Use the Notes or History features to document reasons for major changes.
- Check for attachments or documents that may need updating.
- If multiple users work on quotes, refresh the screen before editing to ensure the latest version is displayed.
