Scan in Your Item Inventory That Have Pre-Printed UPC Codes

Most items come with a preprinted UPC code. Instead of creating your own bar code numbers, it is recommended that you use the preprinted code already visible on the item. Because most items already have the UPC code, you do not need to print labels. However, you must "teach" the Order Entry system what the UPC codes mean. To do this, you should first gather up a sample of each item inventory you carry. Now, when scanning a UPC during an Order Entry transaction, the system will recognize the code and provide the appropriate inventory information.

How to scan in your UPC codes:

File>Bar Codes>Browse UPC Codes

Click on the Insert button.

Scan the pre-printed UPC code. If you are not using a scanner, you may manually enter a UPC number in this field.

Origin - Click to designate as either Roll or Item.

Click on the ellipsis button to the right of the Roll or Item number field to select the appropriate inventory record for this UPC code. It must come from inventory because you have the product in your hand and obviously stock it.

Click on OK to save the record.
