Product Driven Order Entry

This feature was created to allow optimal usage of current inventory as well as reduce waste.  It also serves as a security feature that will limit access into the Inventory file based on the specific High and Low waste factors.  For instance, “scraps” are determined to be between the values of 3 yards/feet and 15 yards/feet. Those are the high and low values mentioned above.  When the data entry person enters an order, they will be automatically prompted to choose from a product record and a product record ONLY.  However, if there is a “suitable” inventory record available in the same size, style, and color as the selected product, a list of these records will display in a dialog box.  This way, the data entry person can only choose from what has been previously specified under Utilities>System Options>Order Entry>Order Entry>Set Up Product Driven Order Entry

Product Drive Order Entry: Select this option to allow product-driven order entry.  This forces selecting only from the Products module when entering material on a new customer order line.

Select Excepted Product Codes

If "Product Driven Order Entry” is selected, the Product Code list will display.  This allows selecting Product Codes that are exempt from the standard way that Product Driven Order Entry works.  For instance, to use Product Driven Order Entry for all product codes except for Vinyl, select only Product Code 2 in this list (select the appropriate product code by single-clicking on the line). Subsequently, vinyl would be the only product selected from inventory; all other material will only be allowed from the Products Module. Product Driven Order Entry Roll Pre-Select Values

This selection allows utilizing Product Driven Order Entry by allowing specific options to be set.

Low

Essentially this value represents the amount of material on a roll that you are willing to "throw away" or scrap.

For example, let’s say 2 is entered as the value for this field.  When entering a customer order line that consists of a roll of carpet or vinyl, you will select from Roll Products.  Let’s say you select Style "Beautiful," Color "Eggshell," and the amount needed for this particular order is 50 yards.  The system will search for rolls that you have in stock that will leave you with no more than 2 yards and/or no less than whatever value is entered in the High field.  Perhaps in this example, you only have 3 rolls of Beautiful - Eggshell in stock with the amounts of 12 x 52, 12 x 76, and 12 x 90.  The most appropriate of these three selections will be highlighted.  You may choose any of the rolls that appear in this browse box; you are not confined to choose the highlighted selection.  Obviously, the best choice in this scenario would be the roll of carpet that has 52 yards on it.  The job will take 50 yards, which will leave the roll with exactly 2 yards on it (the amount you have entered in the low-value parameter).  Choosing this particular roll will result in only a 2-yard scrap.

High

This value represents the amount of material remaining on a roll after a job/order is complete.

For example, let’s say that you enter 12 as the value for this field.  When you enter a customer order line consisting of a roll of carpet or vinyl, you will select from Roll Products.  You select, like in the example above, Beautiful - Eggshell.  You need 75 yards to complete this order.  The system will search for rolls that you have in stock that will leave you with no less than 12 yards on a roll and/or no more than the value you have entered in the Low-Value field (for this example, let’s allow this number to remain 2). Let’s say in this instance that 4 rolls of Beautiful Eggshell are in stock in the amounts of 12 x 80, 12 x 88, 12 x 100, and 12 x 120.  Again, the most appropriate selection will be highlighted.  In this case, you would probably want to choose the roll of carpet that currently has 12 x 88 on it.  This will leave you with 13 yards on this roll.  If you were to choose the 12 x 80 roll, you will be left with 5 SY of scrap, which is a higher value than what you have designated as your "throw away" amount.  These values are designed to assist in minimizing the amount of waste and gaining more control over inventory.

Use Color Crossover

This box should be checked if Color Crossover is going to be used. This option requires
2 hours of training and an access code to turn on.
