Required for ERRM
Enabling service lines allows breaking down labor costs into specific divisions for job costing purposes. Reports will then show the labor costs in each self-assigned category. The product codes for service lines are assigned in Starting Service Code. It also requires that the total of Provider charges for each product code equal the total charges on the customer order lines (Balancing).
It is not required that Service Lines be enabled. In fact, it may be advisable to become familiar with the system for a period of time as this function forces balancing all labor entries. Enabling this function does not require that a service line be entered on each order, but if it is, it must balance with the Service charge entered on the main customer order.
This feature is useful for checking the forecasted cost of installation with the actual turned in by the installer.
This feature may also be used for tracking other non-material items such as gift certificates, coupons, or binding.
